  • Remedial action stages and triggers (such as soil drying) can be missed or delayed due to irregular site visits and measurements. 

  • There's a potential conflict of interest in disputes; the person collecting the data is also the person making recommendations based on it.

  • Purchase, configuration and maintenance of smart sensor equipment.

  • Installation of multiple smart sensors on site.

  • Collection of data - every hour of every day!

  • Retrieval and integration of local weather data for additional context. 

  • Presentation of collected data on an easy to read online dashboard.

  • Capture of critical contextual changes via an online change log.

  • Perform any required/desired changes to smart sensor locations.

  • Removal of smart sensors at the end of the job. 

  • Export & supply of all data to XLSX or CSV file. 

  • Supply of a Final Report including photographic documentation of each sensor install, sensor locations on the site, graphs of the data collected.

What does SLABsense measure? 


SLABsense is designed to compliment other measurement techniques and data such as Soil Tests & SWCCs, Site Surveys and Altimeters. SLABsense's focus and key point of difference is the ongoing, 24/7 monitoring of key metrics to best track change and context over time. 


As a key metric for slab heave and subsidence issues is the soil moisture level in reactive clay, that's where we're starting! 

SLABsense soil moisture sensors measure:

  • Soil Moisture

  • Soil Temperature

  • Soil Conductivity

(With temperature compensation for measurements)

We also scrape local weather data from the internet for each site's postcode to add critical context, recording:

  • Rainfall

  • Temperature

  • Wind Direction & Speed (as required)

Coming soon:

  • Inclinometers and Accelerometers to measure physical movement of foundations. 

  • Soil Water Potential sensors. 

  • Linear Displacement sensors to measure cracks and expansion joint movement. 

Live Online Dashboards!


SLABsense sensors send readings to our cloud platform and present each job site's data on an easy to read, time based dashboard. 

A change log can be included to track manual or observed changes to the environment that may affect and/or help interpret the results. Examples would include moving a sensor, hosing down a wall, changing a plumbing solution etc.
